Glassed Green Roses - Recipe by Jill Slater
Glassed Green Roses An exciting and simple display of blossoming green rose buds creates this mouth-watering centerpiece. It takes just minutes to make, but will be the focus of many conversations to come.

Materials:

  • Clear glass hurricane, approximately 12-inch tall x 5-inches in diameter
  • Approximately 6 green hybrid tea roses (if green is not 'the envy of your eye,' use your favorite colored roses)
  • 3 sheets of clear cellophane, approximately 12-inches in length (Available at florists and craft stores)
  • Floral preservative
  • Floral clippers
Directions:
Step 1 - Cut the rose stems to approximately 2-inches in length.

Step 2 - Loosely enclose 1 to 2 rose buds in one piece of cellophane. If possible leave their stems out of the cellophane so that they can easily drink water. Wad up the cellophane loosely and insert it into the hurricane. Follow this procedure for the rest of the flowers.

Step 3 - After all the roses have been enclosed in cellophane and inserted into the hurricane, slowly fill the hurricane with water that has been treated with floral preservative.
